Sprint PCS Cell Phones

With its recent merger with Nextel, SPRINT is now the third largest U.S. cell phone company. It now has about $40 billion in annual revenue and 35 million subscribers. The deal combined Nextel’s business and Sprint’s consumer customer base, creating what analysts call a larger, better-rounded company. Sprint also is expected to bring Nextel’ss popular “push-to-talk” service, which makes phones work like walkie-talkies, to the mainstream. That could let Sprint compete on features beyond just price — possibly changing the face of the U.S. cell phone industry.
