With its merger with Sprint, NEXTEL is now the third largest U.S. cell phone company. It now has about $40 billion in annual revenue and 35 million subscribers. The deal combined Nextel’s business and Sprint’s consumer customer base, creating what analysts call a larger, better-rounded company.
